The assessor's office maintains the current assessment of real property values and exemption in the Town of West Monroe
If you are 65 or know anyone turning 65, have them contact their Assessor Office for an Enhanced Star Application.
Renewal applications for the Enhanced STAR, Senior Citizens Limited Income, Disability and Agriculture Exemptions are mailed to property owners each Fall. These renewal applications must be filled out and returned to my office, with all supporting documentation, as soon as possible but no later than March 1st, Taxable Status date.
Applications received after this date will not be approved. You will be notified by mail if you were denied and your exemption was removed.
Changes to STAR:
Scenario 1 - You (the homeowner) recently purchased the property, and the property has a STAR exemption on the 2016 roll for the prior owner.
Scenario 2 - You (the homeowner) recently purchased the property and the property does not have a STAR exemption on the 2016 roll.
Scenario 3 - You (the homeowner) are not a new owner. The property does not have a STAR exemption on the 2016 roll.
Scenario 4 - You (the homeowner) are not a new owner and have received the STAR exemption on the 2015 and 2016 rolls, and are applying for the Enhanced STAR exemption on the 2017 roll
Scenario 5 - You are not a new applicant and received the STAR exemption on the 2015 and 2016 rolls. The property has transferred because ownership has changed, but at least one of the owners held title to the property on March 1, 2015. For example ownership has changed because of a divorce or property placed in a life estate.
The Assessor will be in attendance of the Tentative Roll at the Town Hall on, May 12 and 20 from 10:00am to 1:00 pm and also 6:00pm-8:00pm, Saturday May 21 from 9:00am to 1:00 pm.
The Assessor encourages homeowners with question to contact the Assessor before Grievance Day.
Grievance Day is May 24 from 4-8 pm at the Town Hall, Grievance must be in the Assessor office on or before Grievance Day.
The West Monroe Grievance Board has asked for completed Grievance's forms to be turned in at least a week prior to Grievance Day. Grievances will be heard first by appointment on May 24. Appointments to appear in person before the Board of Assessment Review can be scheduled with the completed RP-524.
When using the Tax Calculator remember Special Districts and Exemption are not considered

Property tax rates are based primarily on school district and municipal boundaries. Check the Property Details page of a property for school district information and then choose the appropriate combination from the Municipalities pull down menu to calculate an estimate of the total property taxes for the property, exclusive of exemptions. Note that in some cases, there may be special district taxes in addition to the categories listed here.
